Truck and Equipment Consulting promises to provide the most professional, qualified, and most capable field inspectors for our clients as is possible, providing close supervision and monitoring, and on-site consultations and support during all inspections. Many of the inspectors we employ have experience as heavy equipment operators, maintenance specialists, including many U.S. Military Veterans with 21E field heavy equipment experience, in both Iraq and Afghanistan. All have been pre-screened for qualifications and have been extensively interviewed. 

Due to the wide variety of different heavy equipment designs, different equipment brands and models, we may rely on general industry experience, general equipment experience, mechanical knowledge, and other skill sets, to provide the best possible service for each situation and location. It is not always possible or necessary to have specific brand or model experience.   

Each individual assignment we receive is reviewed based on location, industry, equipment type and model, including any and all variables and parameters necessary to provide the best possible reports.

Look for: Oil in radiator
Oil leaks
Hydraulic leaks, damp lines + fittings 
Any fluid leaks
Listen for: Noises upon start up
Noises upon idling & at operating temperature
Noises upon shut down
Smoke & smoke color (Clear/Black/White/Blue) upon start up
Smoke & smoke color (Clear/Black/White/Blue) upon idling at operating temperature
Smoke & smoke color upon shut down
Slack in pins and bushings (Vibrations & Noise during operation)
Surface rust
Rust damage & cancer
Check brakes (Squealing Noise / Grinding Noise when stopping)
Check transmissions (Clunking / Banging Noise in gear / Shifter vibration)
Check steering (Screeching Noise / Steering Wheel Vibration)
Check controls (Horn, Lights, Fans, A/C, Levers, Shifters)
Check all gauges (Functioning while machine is on)
Check seat condition
Seat belts / Fire extinguisher present
Backup systems / Safety alarm function
Check all glass (cracks, broken panels)
Overall interior panel condition
Tire wear / Tread wear
Undercarriage wear / rust / damage
Body Panel Damage, Panel Gaps, Panel Separation
Bucket / Ripper / Scarifer Condition
Structural Damage / Weld Repairs / Patch Repairs on frame + chassis
Hydraulic system function / vibrations / hydraulic pump noises - Chassis Elevation + Operating Temps
Operating temperature / Burning fluids  Odor / Burnt odors
OIL BLOW BY – At operating temperature, pull oil fill dip stick, or, oil fill cap off. 
Place blank paper over opening for 1 minute. Note any oil splatter & stains from oil spitting out of opening
Check Hours Meter for Change – Note difference between arrival, and reading at end, before leaving. 
Check Oil Again For Change in Appearance / Odor
Check Coolant Again For Change in Appearance / Odor (AFTER ENGINE HAS COOLED)
